After a long search I have acquired some oxalic acid.(50 g).I have a 16 ft orkney with a very badly stained hull.Do I have enough oxalic acid? If so How do I mix it?-ratio .How do I apply it-I remember wallpaper paste mentioned.Do I need to brush it on? Do I hose it off when job is done? I know this has been explained before but I can't find it. All help and advice appreciated.

Ten percent seems to be the favourite amount. Your 50 g will only make up 500 ml of solution, which may just be enough. Use a small squirt of washing-up liquid in it and add and a LITTLE wallpaper paste to make a thin paste. The paste makes it easier to use on vertical surfaces, but for 500 ml you will only need about a level desert spoon of the paste powder or less for a thin (slightly runny) paste.

See the thread which started a couple of weeks ago headed "Oxyalic acid"

As far as I can determine the solubility of the dihydrate is about 10% so thats the most concetrated solution you can make.

You'll find advice there on safe handling of this toxic material and using it mixed with wall paper paste.

The thread was started by boatmike who reported his experiences of using oxalic acid, in some detail, in another thread headed "the acid test" a little later.

Both are worth looking back at.

I posted the answers to your question on 16th post no 714884. The Acid Test.
If you cant find it you need to go to search, which is in the headings and type in Oxalic Acid
