Has anybody found a supplier of Oxalic acid in the Plymouth area please? The boat is crying out for a good clean to remove the inevitable staining. Thanks very much.

Any chemist will be able to get it, though some may not be willing as it is a poison.

If you read the ingredients on the bottle, it's just like any other over priced prepackaged bottle in the chandlers. It's not the same as oxalic acid, which will remove far more stains and muck than Harpic (or any other limescale remover) as it's far stronger, and is very cheap to boot.

You can get it mail order from agwoodcare.co.uk

A local Pharmacy is only likely to get it for you if they know you.

They'll get it fine if you explain why. Print out a couple of the Oxalic acid threads from this site, and explain you want it to clean your boat.

i got a kg from agwoodcare and it lasts for ages. know my local chemist well but he cd not get it from his suplier. agree that others such as limescale remover / harpic do not work as well. the brown stains on my boat just disappeared with oxalic

Cannot directly answer your question but have today ordered 1kg of the stuff from my local chemical suppliers (who deal mostly with cleaning chemicals). Suggest yellow pages under that heading.

I got a tub for about six quid from the chemist attached to the Health Centre at Plympton. Had to be ordered and took about 5 days. Brian.
