Some of the non-slip areas which are Kiwi Grip have some dark staining. Cream cleaner and scrubbing doesn't touch it so I wondered if oxalic acid would do the trick and if it's safe to use on Kiwi Grip paint?

Oxalic is fine on 2 pack polyurethane paint but does stain and change the color of my anti fouling paint. So possible damqage to a one pack paint. Just try it on an area where damage does not matter. Or put oxalic on uniformly so any color change doesn't show up. ol'will

ITYWF KiwiGrip is an acrylic polymer.

KiwiGrip seems to absorb all stains. The only solution I found was to repaint but it never lasts. Awlgrip products are a better solution but not cheap.

It's not something I would do. If you're going to pay for Awlgrip and their nonslip system then apply it on a properly prepared surface.

The KiwiGrip we used on our Steel Hartley 32 in NZ was cheap, easy to maintain/retouch up. Never had any colour change/staining issues. Three years before the first complete re do. Two small patches were re done after I dropped a heavy tool which skidded across the two patches, scoring deep marks in them. Filled the scores with a small brush and KiwiGrip to level them, then re did then. It is water based so it is easy to clean up after. Personally, I see little reason to use anything else. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
