I have now had my Sunseeker Martinique 39 since December 2014 and thought I would update my ownership experience. Things have been great I have put in excess of 100 hours on her already using it nearly every weekend without any issues. She sits at 31 knots easily and will cruise happily at 25 knots. I love the Yamahas and still can't get over how smooth and quiet they are compered with al the Volvo engined boats I looked at. Swanick Marina has been a great place to keep her but there prices for this season have been silly so have just signed up to Shamrock Quay MDL freedom berthing. Looking forward to the summer! Might see some of you at Shamrock on C pontoon! Moving her their next weekend. I buy and sell Porsches/Aston Martin/Ferrari etc and Shamrocks classic car monthly event they hold appealed to me might even get some new customers!

Plans for the boat over next few weeks are to give a full mop and polish, replace the trim tab sensors, and add look at re trimming the cockpit in new style sunseeker cream.I also really want to change the name as the current one (Bad Boys) is cringey and doesn't give off a good image for a 25yr old lad turning up on his boat! Everyone keeps putting me off with there superstitions.

Got invited to the Sunseeker pre season boat show as I bought the boat from the Sunseeker brokerage. Going will probably be an expensive mistake as I have now fallen in love with a used Predator 55 and really considering one! I love the look of the predator range and just want to upgrade now. I said to myself I would keep this at least 18 months to make sure I stick with the boating. ( I tend to get bored of things quickly). Anyone got any comments on the predator range or know of anyone selling privately feel free to get in touch although I think I will stick with the Martinique for a season.

Anyway heres a few pics over the last few weeks.

Well, that's bollocks :) - boats and ships change names all the time. If you don't like the current one, just change it.

The only part superstition has to play is, if you want to, as an excuse for breaking out the booze in a made-up "renaming ceremony" :p

I second the break out the booze element. And it does no harm to throw one in the brinny for Ol' Neptune either.

Nice one, got any more pics of the boat? And well done with that boat at 25... I bought my Cranchi Smeraldo 37 at 25 too... humans must be getting the bug younger and younger by the day!

Its an addiction alright. Worse if it gets you young. I bought my first brand new boat at 25 as well :o

I'd go with 'better' rather than 'worse'. Boating is a healthy addication.

Well, that's my story, and i'm sticking to it! I bought my first boat (well, a share in my father's 19ft fishing boat) at 12. I couldn't imagine my life without boating, and i'm sure there's many others on the forum in the same position. Fast boats are better than fast women (although the boats prob cost more to run!)

Congratulations on getting a bug that may last a lifetime.... go ahead and re-name and enjoy!! do a proper re-naming as a ceremony and offer libation to the correct parties (and guests)... :D

Now in respect to the P55 ... there are a couple of things to think about...

1) Fun level does not grow exponentially with the size of the boat ... but cost of ownership does... so expect 2 - 3x cost of ownership for a P55 against your current 39... !
2) Bigger boat = less feel of speed and rush.... and at times more difficult to get space at guest harbours during busy season, so need more forward planning...

.... so my advise to you would be to take your time and get a busy summer season in with your 39 .... then see how you get on.

Top of the list for a rename is "Current Obsession" as I quickly get obsessed with new toys but then end up wanting more pretty fast!

Current Obsession is definately more fitting, Bad Boys just makes me look like a drug dealer!

Points taken onboard reference P55, costs I think would be minimum 3 times more as the Martinique is so economical. If I went for a P55 would need a coded one as I think I would need to charter it 12-15 days a year to help with the extra costs.

Our renaming ceremony had a glass of bubbly over the bow with something like "Sod Bumble, this boat is now called Flower Power", then the crew finished off the bottle.
