Apologies this a google translation.

Fabrice Vial, an entrepreneur, 43, was shot dead Friday at one o'clock in the morning on a boat off the coast of Porto-Vecchio, Corse-du-Sud
"The most likely scenario is that a boat approached the ship, and a man opened fire," said a source close to the investigation, adding that the victim was shot once between the neck and the upper back, "probably by a rifle."
The contractor was on his boat of 35 m, with eight people on board including crew. It has has been found dead by emergency alerted by the Cross-Med 1:20
Still according to a source close to the investigation, the suspect author of the fatal shot is on the run.
The witnesses heard by the police
At present, those present on the boat, witnesses to the crime scene, are heard by the gendarmerie of Porto-Vecchio, which was investigating.
Fabrice Vial is the chairman of the eponymous industrial group specializing in the woodworking discount. In 2009, Fabrice Vial had bought the shipyards Couach then in bankruptcy. The head of the company presided over 64 outlets in France for a turnover amounting to over 100 million euros.

I guess this is the same shipyard that produces Guy Couach boats?

Sounds like an excerpt from a Jason Bourne movie.

Any forum members in Corsica hear any more?

Apparently according to Nicematin another boat pulled up along side and a single shot was fired from that boat.

I guess this is the mediterranean way of sorting out your business problems. In UK we just have MBOs with VC backing.

In my local paper there were suggestions that the Corse Mafia had tried to extort money from him. Just wonder if this was a warning aimed at a crew member, but shot the chief in error? Gun was a .22 rifle. Not a normal first choice for assassins. Also difficult to aim from a RIB.
