Has anyone built their own autopilot remote control using NMEA or Seatalk commands being sent from a PC or some equivalent?
I see that Raymarine sells a wireless remote control for their tillerpilots. I was thinking that for my boat all I would really need is a couple of buttons on the foredeck (mast´?) which would be basically adjusting the direction to port or starboard by a few degrees.
Looking at NMEA then I found some commands that would seem to be suitable. "steer right to correct". In Seatalk then there is the complete set of autopilot controls replicated.
Anyone played with these with any success?
Joe.
