Got a phone call at 9.30 am on sat, a Nortech 43 had lost a prop ( only £7000 each!) on its way down from Bergen to us, could I go up with a spare one.
Went down to the key and we lifted our Nortech so we could 'steal' a prop and jumped into a Hydrolift C31 with a D6 motor, not a particularly fast boat at 38 knts max, with the girlfriend and blasted through the fjords and sounds 70 odd miles to Stord up the coast and found the Nortech, fitted the prop and then met our two young guys delivering a Fairline 40 Targa from Bergen to Stavanger, they jumped at the chance to swap boats as they thought 30 kts was boring, I was just as pleased to swap as I knew the weather had blown up bit for the trip home, so we cruised in comfort while they pounded and bounced on ahead of us. Stopped for a nice lazy lunch in Haugesund with hot sunny weather and got back to Stavanger about 6 just as it started raining. I am very impressed the Fairlines handling, a great long distance cruiser, just thought the steps down to the saloon were too steep and slippery after crashing down them!
The Nortech blew past us like we were anchored at a lot less than its normal 140 knts as the prop wasn't the right pitch so he would have been over revving on one motor but pretty impressive all the same, just wished I'd remembered the video camera.
Well how was your weekend? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There is a relay from the tilt/trim switch it could be that, had one gone this week will it raise if you press the trailer position button, and does the trim gauge still show an accurate position reading? if not then either the ratchet bar has broken or the potentiometer has packed up.

How? I'd expect such props to possibly break some blades when hitting something afloat, but loosing the whole prop!?....

Geez...
I guess they were near the coast if reversing. No way to dive and have a look around?
A stainless steel prop should be relatively easy to spot (depending of course on the depth and kind of bottom).
