Overnight Moorings, Teddington ?

Looking for a suitable spot to moor up overnight before heading into London.

Trip is planned for later this year. Also Does anyone know approximate passage time from Richmond to St Kats, I'm allowing 1hr 30 mins which should give me about 1 hr leeway on the lock times ay St Kats.

Anyone have and further advise

Turn left out of the lock and go under the footbridge. There is a pontoon on the right that belongs to The Anglers pub.

Your hour and a half Richmond to St Ks sounds a bit tight. The total trip is just under 16 miles but for the first 9, to Wandsworth Bridge, there is a speed limit of 8kts. By the time you have slowed down for moored boats and that most obnoxious of water users, the Thames Rower, there's an hour and a quarter gone. No way you're going to do the remaining 6+ miles in 15 minutes. Just because there is no specified speed limit below Wandsworth doesn't mean you can let it rip and altho' commercial craft seem to be able to make as much wash as they like, private craft soon get jumped upon. I was cautioned - and I was only doing 10 kts!

We've done this trip dozens of times and it normally takes a little over 2 hours. Which means you arrive for the very last locking in. Alright off-peak but at very busy times you might not get in and the prospect of spending the next twelve hours on the tidal Thames in London is not an attractive one!

I Agree, we normally allow 2.5 hours to be on the safe side.

We would normally plan to leave Teddington at the time on the tide table for HW London Bridge GMT.

As London Bridge tide is an Hour before Teddington and an hour for summer time, this puts you at 2 hours before HW Teddington which is about right to catch Richmond opening up and still get into St Kats.

You will be punching the tiide until about Wandsworth.

As to moorings, there is plenty mooring just above Teddington Lock on the right as you are coming down past the weir.

Agree with these 2.
I always allow 2.5 hrs from Teddington Lock.

Go over Richmond sluices as soon as open or even go through the lock half an hour before. I think it's even free now! This gives option of 2 lockings at St Kat's. I wouldn't bother any earlier.
Anticipate a good 2 or 3 knots against you in the 1st stretch below Richmond.

Hi cheers to all for comments, have done the trip in friends boat a while back, yes rowers, say no more and punching to tide can be fun, at least this time my boat has plenty of power not like friends boat.

May even change the trip around ie go to Gallions first as they are + or - 5 hrs then a couple of days later come in on the flood and stop at St Kats.

Would then leave St Kats again on the flood to go back up river.

One option below Teddington Lock is Twickenham Yacht Club. They have pontoons which I'm sure they'll let you overnight against (opposite Eel Pie Island)

Theres always Limehouse just below St Kats plus or minus 4.5hrs I believe. Quite cheap to and nice pub ont corner.
