Overfilled my MD11 with oil a bit during the oil change.

I'm sure it's not massively over but perhaps 15mm over the maximum mark on the dip stick, should I scavenge a bit out? So darn hard to see fresh oil on the stick!
Also I presume when measuring on the dip stick I have to screw it all the way in, ie about 7mm beyond when the stick first sits in.
Any polite advice appreciated:)

Pretty sure the level is measured with the dipstick just resting in place not fully screwed in. The owners manual will tell you

http://www.volvopenta.com/volvopent...lication_search/Pages/publication_search.aspx if you have mislaid your copy. Just enter MD11C in engine type.

Adjust the level before running!

Bluddy doesn't say. I have another edition somewhere . Will get back to you.

Thanks Vic!! I've just gone through the Workshop manual and the Operators manual and as you say "It doesn't say", certainly in my versions (from your previous help). Doh. However it does say don't over fill. Of course I measured what I scavenged and when I put in fresh I did it cautiously. Also you don't know if you are on a slight slope in the yard, but it is definitely slightly over now she is afloat. I shall take over my Pela suction pump next time.

No I cannot find it>

I reckon we must have had a different version of the manual on the boat. I know I have seen it somewhere.

Found it in the manual for the MD2B ... "Do not screw the dipsick down when measuring the level"

Cheers Vic!! Do you think that advice would generalise accross to the MD11?

Pretty sure it applies to the Md11. Sailed with one, even if not my own for a good few years. Helped with servicing too. Just wanted to find it in black and white . I reckon it was in the older edition of the owners manual.
