We are looking for a friendly, cheap wintering spot, boat in the water.Any suggestions? As far as Turkey, Rhodes,Crete. Has anyone had any good experiences in these places, was there a good community etc.

Try Netsel marina, marmaris. 1400Eu pa for my 32 footer, surrounded with restaurants, all marine servicews within the marina, more than you can imagine outside it, squeaky clean marble shower blocks, right on the edge of a buzzing town and yet has great, though unobtrusive security. fantastic shelter in all weathers, great liveaboard community. see allaboutmarmaris.com for a general picture. PM me for more.

Do you want to stay in a marina or at anchor?

If a marina then there are about 5 in Marmaris bay, also Finike which is safe and well run and Kemer which normally has a very social winter livaboard community.

If at anchor then the Gocek-Fethiye area has many safe anchorages and all the services that you need. Although a bit remote, Kekova is very safe and one of my favourite spots.

PM me if I can help.

Not sure about cheap but Ayvalik in Turkey looked good to us. Nice cruising around too.

I'm thinking of the same place this year. What sort of weather, temperature and conditions, can you expect there over the winter? and how buzzing is the liveaboard community?
