Over night berthing fees, rip off?

£10 a night in Caernarfon, if you can dry out, £25 in Holyhead Marina. But many places are free cos you just anchor, or borrow an empty private mooring.

BTW I'm glad the HM's are policing the idiots that speed in harbours & moorings - it really is NOT acceptable, as wash in a normally calm area where people are not expecting it is very dangerous. Try pouring a kettle of hot water when a sudden unexpected wash hits you!

Please show a little consideration for others & go play with your silly toys in open water, oh, I forgot didn't I, they are not seaworthy enough to speed in any seas are they? So take them to specialist racing venues where people don't moor up & expect a calm, safe environment for their meals etc.

Its a few years since I boated in the Solent but back then, Yarmouth was our favourite destination. Since they made the changes, I have not heard one single good word from anyone about Yarmouth and it is such a shame. It seems that greed has ruined the place and thats sad

I still like it, even with all the recent changes.

However, I've never managed to get the walk ashore berths. And only had the offshore pontoon twice. Mainly been on the piles, which, once tied to, are very pleasant, so long as everyone alongside also ties to them.

It often seems full/busy to me so there's clearly a few people who still enjoy it and are willing to pay the berthing fees.

Cheers

Garold
