We charged down to Fowey on Friday night by car and let go on Saturday for the Yealm. Must have spotted 35 yachts/motorboats in 2 days (eh)?! Even had the very special treat of dolphins. It really makes a change from our Solent stomping ground, easier sailing in more settled conditions (SW'ly swell was a bit narky tho) and some very pretty harbours. Absurdly, although a good time was had by all, I was quite pleased to get home tonight and think about sailing out into the mayhem next week! Have I lost the plot......?

Not at all. A change is as good as a rest, as they say. I used to enjoy the contrast of sailing on the Solent one weekend and the Mudway the next, strange I realise!

This is just the sort of post I object to. Before long there'll be all sorts conjesting our waters.
We were also on the Yealm on Saturday and spotted The Dolphin. Had a few pints and a nice well priced meal there!

From Fowey it's a very short trip to Falmouth. Go in on a Saturday afternoon and any feelings of homesickness will vanish as you try to negotiate the traffic.

Go via Mevagissey for lunch, but don't, as we have done, follow an all day breakfast with a 'snack' of one of the local giant pasties.

I'm going to be outside home waters too, in two weeks time, taking my first trip away from the East Coast and heading for the Solent, with the intention of leaving Crystal there until the end of September, probably at Weymouth (Mum & Dad are nearby). I don't suppose I'll go to the trouble of rounding the Bill on this occasion.

I've already received some great suggestions over on the Classic Boat forum, but any more from here would be appreciated - maybe even manage a meet up or two. Am definitely keen on Cowes & Yarmouth, and Lymington is a definite as I have friends there. I'm finding the Tightwad Sailor's guide invaluable, any more suggestions?
