Outlook Express message \'compacting\'

There was a thread about this, and the problems associated with it a short while ago, somewhere on the Forums but, having just spent nearly an hour trying to find it via the Search function, I've had no joy. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Would some kind person point me in the right direction, 'cos it seems to have lost a couple of messages I need to recover if possible?

Have a look here

with any luck, there will be .dbx files in your recycle bin. If not, then they are probably gone. You could try a file recovery application to see if they are still on your hard drive, but it depends on how the compaction was done, as under some cirumstances the emails are simply deleted and not put into the recycle bin first.

Re: Outlook Express message \'compacting\'

Thanks Brendan. I'll work my way through that lot!! I don't usually use the 'Compact your messages ...' box that comes up sometimes when closing OE, but did last week for some reason.

A couple or three messages just disappeared.

Anyway, I'll try your suggestions and hope.

Thanks again, Jerry
