Hi can you help identify this outdrive, the engine is a Volvo 5.7Gi-D petrol
outdrive.jpg

One of the piston trim arms is showing signs of corrosion so will be looking at replacing once I can identify the drive then I can obtain the part number.

I think its an sx but not sure this is a picture of a new one not mine.

Thanks

There should be a sticker on engine with engine and drive numbers, there's lots of variants of that drive, best to order correct parts first time.

The one in the photo is a DP-SM from around 1999 onwards. Earlier ones had an external trim line running along the top of the cylinder, with a cover, later ones have it integrated in the casting. ( also later ones use C clips to retain the cross shafst to the ends of the trim cylinder). The upper assembly is the same as the SX-M of the same era.

Thank you for the response, the boat was build in 2005 yes there are C clips so its an SX-M thanks guys.

Now to start looking for a replacement.

No it's a DP not SX - SX is single prop DP is twin "duoprop"

Makes no difference as far as the trim rams in any one year. DPS and SX drives share a common SX-M upper unit and transom shield ( except gear ratios and the badge on the cover, that is ): the shared parts include the trim rams. It's only the lower unit that's different. The SX-M MHP transom shield that some DPS drives have does differ in some respect, but the trim rams are still the same. It can be identified by having 2 anodes on the transom shield.

Ok thanks guys found the ram housings can only buy as a set of 2 but that's ok will replace both. Looks a simple enough job. Thanks again for your wisdom
