outdrive H frame \'fell off\'

A few months ago I hit an object in the water and the H frame failed causing the outdrive leg to be left dangling by it's exhaust bellows and gear cable.

My insurers are claiming that this was due to galvanic corrosion.

I had a surveyor look at it and he reported that there were little or no signs of corrosion.

The insurers have now taken the H frame for analysis at S'hampton university.

My question is can aluminium become weakened/corroded without showing any signs on the outside?

St Margrets .... I have now changed! They were unhelpful and certainly made a 'Drama out of a crisis!'

I am still fighting it.

The H frame is quite a chunky unit and it is a clean break.
