I have twin 85 Yamaha's with 13.25" x 17 three blade props.

These aluminium props have started to slip on the rubber
'doughnut' hub.

One is just 6 months old.

Should I get replacement aluminium props or stainless steel props?

Should they have removable hubs for easy replacement in future?

6 months old and you think the bush is going?
that's not right, whether it be alloy or stainless
Take it back from whence it came
You don't need stainless for your type of boating
Plus if you do clack something with a stainless prop there much more of a chance for gearbox damage
Never heard of replacement bushings, yes you can swap the inner metal sleeves etc but the rubber torsion type bush is a prop engineers job I reckon

Stainless are thinner blades because of strong material and looks up a lot cooler and shiney on the other hand alumiminum blades are thiker due to weaker material and more resistance. I suggest you to replace aluminium props.

you can try and take the 6 month old one back to the shop, but if you have scuffed it they will refuse warranty. when i was in the carib i discovered i had to pay for everything and then claim for warranty. i claim took 2 years and i had been off the boat for a year by then, called the owner and they refunded him the money.

how old are the outboards? older gearboxes will suffer if you stick stainless props on. if you have been happy with the ali props i would replace with the same, they will be easier to get and probably about a quarter of the cost of stainless. was far as rebushing goes from experience it is difficult to get the bush and finding someone to do the job will be difficult in carib. I would suggest replacing the ali with the same

Today I put the old prop back on. Identical 131/4 x 17K aluminum prop, but it has a significant 'ding' on the tip of one blade. :ambivalence:

The boat ran well with no ventilation/cavitation/slipping etc.

Water was clear and felt cool although it was 80ºF

On Monday, I take the 'new' prop back to the dealer who has agreed to see what can be done.
I still have the original box. Not sure of receipt, but can search the credit card statements.
They can go back through their records as well.
