Welcome and the same to you.
Sorry, I've never heard of a Wind outboard and have been around outboards for about 20 yrs. a) Are you sure of the name and b) Do you know what country it is from, there's often a manufacturers plate somewhere ?
You may get a quicker response if you ask this question on the associated Motorboat Chat Forum.

Thanks to Wisper & Chippie for your reply.
I have checked the plate and yes its "wind" 8hp.
The top cover also has the same name on it. A friend said it might be east european make?.
Will try the 40:1 mix as a starting point.

I had same thing with my Yamaha and someone said just use 50:1 as all outboards use this. Well I did and it ran like crap. Then bumped into someone who had the same engine and he told me it was 100:1. Did this and it ran much better. So make sure you get the right ratio as it makes a lot of difference.

Some American boating sites I have visited point out that more recent two strokes are recommended being run at 100: 1 , but they say this is for reasons of environmental compliance by the manufacturer and they recommend 50:1 as being better for the motor.
The good news is that there is a very big margin of safety here. Modern oils are pretty good.

In the mid 70's "regulation" two stroke mix was 25:1, except for the good ole Seagull at 10:1. Oil technology has really improved over the last few years and as is said here plenty "regulation" mix is now 50:1. Even re-jetted Seagulls run at 25:1. I think the point is to mix up some smallamounts of fuel, start at 50:1 and see what happens. If the engine nips up (make sure you don't absolutely thrash the engine whilst testing), let it cool and move to 25:1. That will almost certainly be fine. Run it for a while and look at the plug, if it's black and oily you need to go leaner on the oil, so try 40:1... etc.etc.etc
