Outboard wiring ??

The wiring on my Mercury outboard which has a rubber type covering, looks to be perishing in places and maybe causing problems.

Which type of wiring to rewire the engine, the engine does not get all that hot so I don't think heat is a problem. Thinking of such as silicone, etc, copper or otherwise. most of the wiring is 1.5mm sq. and some of it being on the L.T. side of the coil circuit. As we all know there is also a damp problem with these engines left outside to the elements.

What are your recommendations from experience's

You can use most modern wire - the only thing you do need to specify is tinned copper - do not use plan copper wire it will tarnish rapidly
