I have just bought a service kit for my Suzuki DT6 6HP 2 stroke. It came with 2 x plugs, fuel filter, impeller and 2 gearbox washers and gear oil.

The questions is - where do the washers and oil go? (no smart replies saying 'gearbox' please). I downloaded a pdf workshop manual which mentions a vast array of washers. Is there such a thing as a service manual, similar to a Haynes manual, giving step by step instructions of how to service the outboard?

Thanks in advance

Peter

Sorry but that is the answer ... smart or other wise.
Instructions for routine servicing and the gear oil change should be in your owners manual

You will find **two screw plugs on the gearbox, (I guess the washers will fit these but they may be for the impeller change)

one on the bottom or close to the bottom.

the other higher up.

Support the engine upright, Remove the plugs retrieve and chuck the sealing washers and let the oil oil drain into a suitable container (best to try to warm it up a bit first or it will be very slow)

When all drained.

refill with the new oil.

Hopefully in a squeezable tube or bottle with a nozzle that will "screw" into the LOWER hole.

Squeeze in oil until it come out of the top hole. ( best if the oil is a little warm or its difficult to squeeze it in)

Refit the top plug with a new washer.

Remove the oil bottle and quickly refit the lower plug with a new washer.

If the old oil milky or obviously contains water you need to investigate for defective seals in the gear box and renew
