Hi Guys - My recently purchased Outboard has what appears to be some type of star security screws or allen key screwed into the threads of the handles effectively locking them. I was going to undo the things and regrease the large threads but cannot figure out what type these screws are - any help would be appreciated. Regards - Dugsie

It is possible that it has Torx?(spelling) screws which are like a socket spanner, the driver is like some winch handle ends. I suggest you visit an engineering supply company which should be able to supply a suitable driver. If the outboard is small enough take it with you in the boot of the car to try out various sizes.

Good luck

yep, spelling correct, just nip down to you're local garage, ask one of the fitters, they will have loads of 'em.

if you ask nicely they may even have some old ones knocking around.. i have if you get stuck, but you'll need to know what size... numbers like T35.. T40 etc.

hope it helps. steve.
