outboard Prop 2hp Suzuki

First thing to try is kettle of boiling water. Plastic blades though ? not so sure about the softening point, Ok if polyprop but take care just in case.

When all else fails, if an alloy prop, caustic soda will get it off,

by dissolving it! But I guess you will actually want to have one to put back on! Gentle heat & deisel oil or wd40 type easing oils can work. Hub pullers & gentle tapping with a hammer rather than a mallet can encourage movement. I presume you HAVE remembered to remove the shear pin & split pin?

Suzi 2 has an alloy prop

[/ QUOTE ] Boiling water is the first thing to try then.

re Ferox or Fenox were you thinking of Fernox as in central heating descaler etc

(Fenox is a nasal spray!)

I hit a chain on the bottom of the river when taking the dog for a walk on the sand bank at low water, it was lower than I expected.

The sheer pin on my suzzi popped, we paddled to the bank and I set about it, luckily we carry the tool bag in the tender. The engine was about a month old and I had to resort to belting the prop with an oar handle to get it off and on the shaft!

I don't know if I missed something, but I don't see how, split pin out, prop off, or so you would think. I am just glad I got ashore, trying to do that in the bottom of a dinghy would have been a nightmare. I have changed sheerpins in the past leaning over the transom.

There is something about the suzzi prop and shaft, looking at it I can't see what, but you have to pop the prop the first inch and then it drops off. I looked for a spring type clip that might have held onto the shaft, but as said, nothing explained why it was so tight.
