Some time ago I posted a question with regard to the postion for an outboard mounting bracket, and received several helpful responses. Thank you all.

I based my measurements on the bottom of the hull so that the prop would run in "clean" water. This happended also to be the apparent water line. However, the mistake that I did make was to forget that with the motor mounted on the transom and crew in the cockpit the water line would change. Silly me!

In any event, my mistake aside, having fitted the bracket the motor seems to work quite well. On the other hand, I have only been able to get the boat (a trailer sailer) into the water once since, and then in very calm conditions.
