There was a really good article in one of the yottie rags sometime in the last few years about servicing a small (2.5hp) two-stroke outboard. I cant remember exactly when or in which rag, but as it had loads of pictures it was probably PBO.

Does anyone have a copy of it?

There was a fairly reasonable one in last months PBO, but I guess you are think of one further back than that...

unless your memory is really shot away!!

There was an article in the July 2008 PBO on keeping an outboard going all summer containing some useful hints for trouble free operation.

There was an article on servicing a small 2 stroke as recently as May this year. No doubt quite informative if you happen to have either the 3.3 Mariner or the 2hp Suzuki used to illustrate the article.

Really these types of articles are too general for any more than a very brief outline of some of the procedures involved. If you are serious about maintaining a small outboard then there is no substitute for the manufacturers manual. Even the manuals by Seloc and Clymer cover too wide a range of models, both in size and age to be really reliable when push comes to shove.

The owners manuals usually contain the routine annual servicing procedures although some are better than others.

However I expect the PBO articles are available from the "copy shop"

[/ QUOTE ] Except an article in the latest (June 09) on maintaining 4 strokes. Handy for anyone with the same Honda engine as the one used to illustrate the article perhaps.
