Outboard impellors

How often do people replace outboard engine impellors for outboard engines that propel the main boat rather than a dinghy? Has anyone had one fail?

Hi

I check the impellor at the start of each season and always carry a spare. In the past i have replaced them every 3 seasons. Mind you after this time the impellor has still been in good condition but its better to be on the safe side.

here in florida, they are changed every year, and a motor that sits prob should be checked often due to sitting/drying out and taking the shape due to lack of movement...just a thought.

I agree. Every 3 seasons seems sensible. Keep the old one as a spare.
