Outboard fuel mix.

You don't tell us its year of manufacture but This site should be able to tell you if you don't know it.

In the mean time I suggest that you use 50:1 using a two-stroke outboard oil to TCW3 specification. (I take it it is a two stroke!) It is unlikely to be any oilier than that and if it happens to be 100:1 then you'd be better off using 50:1 probably unless you find any problems such as oiling of the plug

A very succinct article - I'll keep it for reference. I note the comment about his racing mercs at 20:1. Perhaps that's why late Seagulls should be run at that mixture. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

maybe I should try 75:1?

[/ QUOTE ] I'd rather stick to 50:1 in case that is the correct mixture. It wont do any harm if it should be 100:1 but running on 75:1 instead of 50:1 might. Just the rider that if it does not run properly or if it oils the plug then reduce the oil.

Simple one - what's the fuel mix for a 2.5hp Suzuki please?

(no - I haven't got a handbook before you suggest it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I have a 3 year old Suzuki 2.2 for which the handbook specifies either Suzuki CCI or else a NMMA certified TC-W3 oil at 100:1 except for commercial use and also, curiously, in South Africa where you should use 50:1. Personally I use 50:1.

Careful now - the suzuki 2hp and 2.2hp engines are two strokes. But the 2.5hp, which has been around for a couple of years is a four stroke. I wouldn't advise mixing in oil in the fuel on that one!

[/ QUOTE ] Not knowing was the reason for my comment " (I take it it is a two stroke!)" in my first reply!

Apologies - missed that one. It just seemed like everyone was quoting oil mixes, when I wasn't aware that Suzuki had evr produced a two stroke 2.5hp.

If a 2 stroke, use 50:1.. all the time.. there is certification on various tohatsus and mercs etc for 100:1 for 'leisure' use.. bollox to that.. keep it at 50 , it will outlive you normally..

Leisure use means stuff it if it packs up....

Bit o smoke is fine.. I run both the yam 2b and the tohatsu 18 on 50:1... always will do...

[/ QUOTE ] Well yes that was realy what I was saying but in more gentlemanly terms!

I run an Evinrude that was produced at about the time OMC had a brief flirtation with the idea of running at 100:1. The manual says 100:1 but the tank was marked 50:1 IIRC. It was later recommended that they should all run on 50:1

I use 50:1 but always use good o/b oil, it makes a difference, imho., i.e. lawnmowers etc run hotter and burn off the carbons.
