But there is one, Yamaha, I think, which looks almost the same but isn't. So beware!

Anything Evinrude should suit a Johnson engine unless things have changed.

I visited the Johnson/Evinrude factory in Belgium many moons ago. I was watching the spray booth production line of one of the smaller engines. It was a moving overhead track with the engines hanging below. There was a longer than usual gap between the engines with a piece of metal hanging down then the engines started again.

When the last "Johnson" engine before the gap went through the paint spray, the operator pressed a button or two and, lo and behold, the next batch were painted in "Evinrude" colours. The track movement hadn't even paused.

After this I was always amused to hear keen Evinrude enthusiasts arguing with keen Johnson enthusiasts regarding the respective mechanical merits of the two makes. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My experience with similar type Honda connectors is that the "pattern" parts are crap. 'O' rings deteriorate and dislodge. Get the genuine manufacturer's part even if it is 4 times the price.
