Mercury 2.5HP 2-stroke - where can I get an O-ring for the filler cap?

Did it deform because I over-tightened it?

Tired of filling the boot of my car with petrol :(

Take old o-ring down to your local friendly plumber's merchant.

Slap said o-ring on counter.

Utter the phrase "One of them please, John."

Receive in reply either a) "There you are, sir, that'll be £xx.xx" or b) "Sorry, mate, no call for them!"

:D

If it happens to be a size used in plumbing fittings then the plumber's merchant should be able to match it.

A decent Hardware shop may be able to match it

But any Mercury agent should be able to sort you out for about £3. Part number 815087 I think.

It is also possible to make them from the cord and Super glue.

dont over tighten it!
