I recently came across a supplier of leg extension kits for lengthening outboard engine legs. Some makers supply kits (at about £600) to conver a long shaft to extra long by supply of a leg spacer casting and short extensions to the water tube, gear linkage and drive shaft. They look very good and relatively cheap at about 1/3 manufacturer kit. My concern is that they say the drive shaft stubs are stainless and I wonder if that is a totally suitable material as all the outboard shafts i have seen do not look to be made of stainless. Any thoughts.
