Outbd. power trim relay wiring

It depends on your use for the relay. In some applications current flows in de-powered state, in some it passes current when powered. So 87 or 87a will be redundant, depending on application.
In some cases (like headlight dip/main switching) both could be used.

37 is the power connection ( battery).
87 is the load
85 is the ground connection
and 86 the switched supply to the relay coil

87a is the normally closed contact of a change over (SPDT) relay

If you're like me, there may be no connection between the work you've done and the refusal to turn over. I have drifted down Southampton Water trying to start before calming myself and going through ALL the pre-start checks again. I'd left her in gear, although at a glance it looked OK.

Still don't knowwhy it won't start/even turn over. Its new battery, all connections are good, starter turns by pushing teeth, fuse is ok and relay clicks. Its not in gear but key switch is a bit dodgy.

starter turns by pushing teeth
I wondered what the hell you meant... figured it out now!

If the relay is definitely operating then no worries about the key switch.

Check that you have a power supply to the relay contacts.
If no power supply sort out why not!

If power is there try shorting across the rely main connections. If it cranks then dodgy relay contacts perhaps.
If still not cranking look at starter motor.
