Seems to be a bit of an aversion to non boaty topics round here at the mo. Cant think why, I used to get shot down in flames when I suggested some time ago that many posts seemed a little flippant for a boaty forum!

Anyway, heres a question to flush out the real boaters........how many of you regularly, if ever, actually take your boat (or anyone elses) out of site of land?
Cross channel, channel islands, ireland wherever....come on lets have the truth now........./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Went from Cork to the Scillies this year, thats 142 miles and hardly a sea gull in sight.

Also went in a STRAIGHT LINE from Cork to Neyland this year as well. ( 135 miles, outside VHF coverage etc. )

Now planning next year to go from Kilrush (Shannon Estuary) to Killary Harbour (beautiful, beautiful fjord on the west coast) in a straight line, west of the Aran Islands. (I'll need a high of 1032 hectopascals, methinks ! )

Well you can't see land when going across Lyme Bay unless it's really, really clear. Does that count.

Doing Scilly islands next year, and probably cross channel

Well I was going to show the folkes back home, Mucky Farter disapearing into the blue yonder. Except your picture site has gone hay wire, belly up and knackered! Went to the Scilly Isles this year. But a cock stride and no where near as far as usual jaunts.

Boating aint boating unless you are beyond the horizon!!. No Illusion completed her 2nd Channel Islands trip this year. The 50p pub crawl by bus around Guernsey is a must.......can't wait for the annual pilgrimage in 04! Not bad for a boat fitted with 2 Kenwood Chefs !!!

Yep, know you do, but surprised you can remember /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Not bleedin likely!

Out of site of land, cor, whatever next! Only when I get lost, break down, asleep, drunk, run out of fuel, follow a x channel ferry, try to escape from the family, need to go far enuf for the mobile not to work.

Otherwise almost never! Well not in the Avon 3.1, but quite often on Blue Fisher.

Re: Not bleedin likely!

As soon as can get enuff rope aboard to reach back to the pier,I intend to fully go all the way out of sight.

<hr width=100% size=1>If it aint broke fix it till it is.

No, seriously.....

Ok., so quite a few......but what I was really looking for was not the quick trip out and back but evidence of serious passage making........
Lets try again, shall we........

Contributions for OldGits long bit of rope should be sent to...............
