Ebb down flood up or is say fambridge a good call to sail up to?
Or anywhere else. We’ll use tge ob ifwe have to on the return if its taking s bit long but preferably not.

How about a trip to West Mersea?

I don't know if it should be described as a 'jewel in the crown', but it is pleasant and fairly interesting. A trip ashore for an amble about and bite to eat (not to mention non-Bradwell18 'facilities') might appeal to Mrs. Y.

Might suit the wind directions well. It's only a short hop from Bradwell, but you could have a wandering 'scenic' route back if you wanted to spend more time underway.

You'd probably have to pay for a stop on one of the yacht club's buoys, and for a ride ashore in the club launch if you wanted to take advantage of that. With the tide going out maybe you you dry out on the hard if you/she don't mind getting bit muddy, but I don't know whether there are 'arrangements' supposed to be made in advance of doing that, or whether you can just turn up and park your self in an available space.

Have fun, whatever you decide to do.

Bradwell and Fambridge are not on the same river! 2/3 hours is not enough to get to Osea and back. Nor is it enough to go ashore at Mersea. A pootle across to Mersea and into the moorings and back would be pleasant. The Blackwater is the best river for sailing on the East Coast so just enjoy it.

Probably a bit late now, but for a day sail out of Bradwell I would sail over to the Colne, have a look at Brightlingsea, Pyefleet and possibly sail down to Bar and back. I could extend this at various points if whim or time allowed.

Hi Steve,

To do Fambridge and back from Bradwell you will need 8 hours with a favourable breeze, even using the Ray Sand Channel and you would need a draft of about 0 to do that in both directions. Unless the wind changes while you're at Fambridge, you will be going to windward so having to tack for at least one leg.

Your best bet, particularly if it's Mrs Y's first outing, is to stick to the Blackwater, Colne and Pyefleet channel, letting the wind and tide determine the detail.

Peter.
