Ok, Here goes, Second attempt!!
The boat was delivered on Friday 17th, i arranged to meet the driver at a local service station in Dumbarton to enable me to fill with fuel before having it plumped in the water(well it does save a few quid!).
I got to the filling station in plenty of time, only to receive a call from Colin(delivery guy, well when i say delivery guy, he is infact a director of Prosser Marine) to say he was running approx an hour late. He eventually arrived, we filled the boat up and got on our way again.
We arrived at the marina around 4pm, and immediately set about launching the boat.
So thats what they call single handed launching,
The boat was launched with no problem and Colin and i headed out of the marina for a trial and instructions on how to handle her and how some things worked!
The boat felt soooooo much different to the Rinker, well i suppose it would really!!!! The Rinker was an out and out hooligan speed boat doing over 45knts compared to this Sealine. The Sealine is a nice slow gentlemans cruiser!!!
We cruised nicely at 25knts, and never having used any before i was shown how to use the trim tabs, what a difference they make, and also being able to plane at such low speeds, something the Rinker could never do!!
The boat felt great, so we headed back to the marina.
In the Marina, Colin walked me round the whole boat, showing me every switch, cuddy hole nook and cranny the lot.
He explained every switch on the switchboard, Oh and what a lot of switches, I mean there isn't that many compare to your bigger boats, but having never had a switch board before, i think its quite impressive!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
The funny thing though, to use the remote spotlight, firstly you need to switch on the 'Aux' switch on the switchboard, and then press the 'Aux' switch on, on the dash board, and then press the on switch on the remote spolight control panel before you can use it, Whats that all about then!!!???? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Anyway, on the walk around we noticed 3 things,
1. the secondary light in the head was cracked,
2. the socket in the Galley wasn't working, and
3. there was a very small leak from the water pump on the engine.
Before i had to say anything, Colin said, don't worry we'll replace all those items no problem. He asked for a spare key and said he would be up first thing on the Monday morning to replace the water pump, and the other items would have to be ordered.
Everthing was hunky dory with the new boat and we set about loading the old boat(which is newer than the new boat /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) onto the trailer.
Magnum, I know how you feel, It was sad having to say cheerio to a great great boat!!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But its time to move on, hopefully the new boat will be every bit as good if not better /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Funny though, it turns out Prossers may have sold my old boat before they even got it, too someone who saw it last year and liked it very much, I did offer it too him last year, but he turned it down, but he had heard i had traded it in, and went asking about it!!!
Eventually i left the boat about 9pm that night after sorting fenders and mooring lines.
I must say, a lot of dealers get slated on here, and i had heard a lot of different stories about Prosser Marine, but i must congratulate them, So far their service has been excellent, they did everything to the boat i asked them too and more that i hadn't!
Monday morning, I took the Good lady, up to see the boat for the first time, and we arrived and true too his word, Colin was there in the engine bay, just finishing the water pump.
We had a good day, filling the boat with all the usual junk, and we went out for our first trip, accompanied by 3 friends.
The boat ran great, the boss really liked it, but felt it rolled around a lot more than the previous boat, i told her that was normal, and she's now getting used to it.
Mooring her for the first time was different, the marina was empty and there was no wind, so i had everything going for me.
I took my time, was looking a bit squint on the first attempt, I had forgatten how good the duo pop on the last boat was, I'll just need to get used to a single prop again. There was no point pulling and heaving so i went out and tried again, this time i got it spot on perfect, just had to hook the lines over the cleats and that was it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
We've just had our first weekend on board, and the extra space is fabulous, I still have a long learning curve with this boat yet(see Windlass post), and we will enjoy her as much as we can.
We feel this is a good sensible boat for us too start our family with and hope we have some great times aboard.
Sorry for the long post. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Have a great safe summer all.
Cheers
Ali.
