I took these piccies last Sunday, of our local independent lifeboat in action. The service, Moray Inshore Rescue Organisation, only came together during last year and this was the first time I'd seen them on a real launch.
The launching carriage can be manhandled if there are enough people at hand - quicker than coupling up a vehicle. The large wheels allow it to cross quite rough ground, although this time there was plenty of water and the wheels were probably still on the concrete slip.
The call was to a couple of people trapped the sandbanks by the rising tide. By the time we got over the dunes the boat had already picked them up, and they were back in the bay by the time the helicopter arrived on the scene.
