Ouch..Fuel

If its any constellation..... It was £1.65 at Racecourse and about the same at Bray (I think) last year......We found the barge the best price, followed by Shepperton, think theirs was about £1.12 but their pump had broke!

Missed fuel Barge.PHook want £1.34 a litre. Best place to buy between here and Teddington. ?£

Not sure where he is or when you are leaving Teddington but Chris on Merchant does get a move on so it's not impossible if you are looking at taking bunkers he might get down there.

Of course he could be up at Oxford by now I don't know but I do know he covers larger distances than most people on his boat and his depot (Ajax) is at Staines on Thames.

Worth giving him a call just in case ?

Probably too late now.

I did pass Chris a couple of days ago but can’t remember where. I came out of Bray and am headed upstream, I’m thinking it might have been Marlow?

He's going to need the hydrofoils then.

Of course once the JCB 444 common rail unit goes in the boat will go even faster than it does with the Gardner!

Watch out for EA speed cameras Chris ;)

I think that the only other place for fuel between Shepperton and Teddington is Thames Ditton Marina. However, you need to check when they are open and whether they are selling fuel as I have been caught out there. On one occasion I left the boat and went up to the office to find it closed and then could not get back through the gate to the boat.

Unfortunately Thames Ditton Marina stopped selling fuel and the Chandlery was taken over by a camping company who pulled out shortly afterwards. It then became a restaurant/cafe called the Sugar Hut. Then that closed and it's now reopened as The Bondi Beach Bar. There is one mooring space for a visiting boat and I've yet to try it. If anyone can think of a more inappropriately named bar on the Thames I'd like to hear it :D

I just used the fuel barge, thanks for the tip gents, this post saved me £58

Cannot believe the prices you lot are paying up there ................. an absolute rip off in every sense of the word.
RCC club member price with genuine 60/40 split is 83p.
Even visitors only pay just over a Quid.
Was told quite catagoricaly that some Thames marinas are turning a blind eye to some boaters asking for the heating rate on all fuel purchased.
Cheapest fuel we spotted was 89p at Caversham.

It's not a 'blind eye' - the declaration is up to the boater. It's his responsibility and his liability. No onus on the seller and AFAIK the C&E inspectors just check the records.
