Has the demon Osmosis been used to put the fear of god in people so they buy a new boat.I have detected that many people are now saying its not such a big deal.

I imagine the general sentiment is that it's a right pain in the butt, will cost you lots of money to sort, and makes you think hard about the build quality of everything else about your boat (or the one you're thinking of buying).
Minor blisters are one thing, but full blown pitting is quite another.
I would consider buying a boat with osmosis at the right price, but only if I had the space and time to sort it myself as the osmosis treatments you hear about vary wildly both in terms of price and effectiveness. Having somewhere where you can draw out the salts seems to be key - ie, a dry area where you can successively wash the hull over and over. So a wash bay, patience and about a year's worth of jetwashing then... Before you start!!
