Hi - got it down to these two for avon 2.6 and honda 2.5 outboard - both 40mm dia tube . Bracket will be on transom , made to suit. Any comments from owners of these types please. Thanks in advance.
We have the Plastimo ones. Quite simple and basic but done the job perfectly - though I used some old dinghy roller bearing blocks and put a better rope and 3:1 purchase on the end which holds the stern and outboard (most of the weight).
Seem robust enough. But need to make sure the deck or stern where attached to is strong enough - we were advised by builder to glass in plywood strengthened under the deck.
No experience of the Osculati ones, though the davits themselves look very similar. One thing I did wonder, just looking at the pictures, was whether the deck mounting brackets were narrower and hence spread the load less well than Plastimo ones. Quite how you attach to the stern I don’t know, in either case.
Thanks for that - suppose im hoping thickness of ss tube is comparable then i can just pick best buy - thinking of having something like the simpson davits transom bracket where tubes slot over then held by locking bolt- on backing plate of epoxied ply -bit too tricky to crawl in and get up to glass the ply in place though!
