Osborne bay IOW

Even when there is a westerly breeze there is always a northerly chop coming into Osborne Bay. Anyone know why ? It can't be English Heritage trying to frighten us away from their beach, so what is it; the way the bottom shoals perhaps ????

yesterday afternoon (if that was when you were there) you would have had an easterly (flood) tide which was probably funnelled south easterly as it passed Cowes this could explain why the waves appeared to be coming from a Northerly direction. It's just a guess. Also passing traffic going east and west will send their wakes into Osborne bay from a northerly direction - again, just a thought.

I'm now pretty well practiced in taking into account weather, wind, tidal stream and tides to plan my anchorages, however there is always an "extra factor" that usually doesn't come into my predictions!

As stated about, passing traffic is always something I forget to consider, and as we found yesterday at Whitecliff
Bay, the only thorn in the side of my near perfect planning and predictions was Mr. Loadsa Money and his speedboat and wakeboarders!!
