Hi all...
Friend of mine coming down the coast from the Humber via Lowestoft, needs a good overnight spot in the F'Stowe/ Harwich area, a Marina would be best option but a good pub & grub is also on the list of requirements

Any preferences or suggestions would be welcome

Many Thanks
Boz

Go up to Pin Mill, pick up a mooring and dingy ashore to the butt and oyster..

Shotley is a good marina.. But i wouldnt recomend the shipwreck pub.

Ipswich is the best for food... Lots of choice... Or Ramsholt...

Woolverston & Pin Mill would get my vote.

I would moor at Wolverston and then walk the river-side path to the Butt and Oyster at Pin Mill. Take a torch so you can see your way back. That way you get the benefit of a marina (and no dinghy journey full of Ale), a nice walk and an interesting pub.

Royal Harwich YC with pontoons just before Woolverstone is another option. There's the potential to pick up a mooring too. The food is very good indeed there, and good value, and the beer's excellent.

At Halfpenny Pier, the Alma is a good pub with decent food. The Pier Hotel, apparently, is pricier but a more ambitious menu.
Then there's Levington. Food's not bad in the lightship.

Good luck getting a spot there! We were members for some time and couldn't get onto the pontoon to load up for a summer cruise! Nice spot to be if you can though.
