A friend has bought a boat from somewhere in Canvey Island and will be keeping her near Orford and has asked for my assistance to move her there - seems to think I have some sort of a clue about navigation and stuff!!

When is the 'annual survey' and little entrance chart thingy produced? Does anyone know if there has there been much of a change from tha last one? We are probably moving the boat about Easter or soon after.

Thought if I turned up with a few bits of paper he might think I know what I am doing. :)

Site no longer refers to maintenance mode but instead announces withdrawal of service. Great shame. Found it very useful when visiting the Deben.

A great shame indeed, there is no real alternative that provides accurate up to date information about the state of those entrances. There are buoys of course, but they do not give you any feel for what is just outside the approach lines, and thus where you can wander a bit and where you must not at your peril.

Once the boat is back on the water and there is not a lot of wind I will be having a poke around the Deben Bar at lowish water with the keel well up.
I will report back if I find anything of interest.

Good Afternoon All

A great shame that the chartlets have disappeared. It might be possible to have a word with Felixstowe Ferry harbourmaster nearer the time, early April time,
after the annual surveys have
been done to ascertain where he will be laying the seasonal buoyage and the angle of approach.

Hi Yeoman how ya doin these days , i hope all is well with you

Hello Sailor
I retired on 30 Jan 2013. Glad I did, my colleagues now look after a far bigger patch, with fewer people on a ***** salary. Sorry for thread deviation

Regards Yeoman
