They are steaming along at an average 30 knots....

This is a fantastic record. 31 days Equator to Equator; 13 days ahead of JV record and 7 days ahead of Steve Fossett...

I am surprised that there has been so little mention of it.

ps subject to finishing of course.

Fast cats

Its an unbelievably fast time, pity they couldn't quite break the 50 day barrier. I thought Fossett's record was quick but this is something else.

Can't see this being beaten in the short term but they probably said that about Francis Joyon's record.

Doha 2006 also screaming round the planet as well.

A lot of people argue about pros and cons of cats and tri's but we've seen some impressive multihull performances in the past couple of months.

Big cats.... the way to go !

I agree. Bruno Peyron was interviewed and said that they had been unbelievably lucky with the weather. Despite hitting a whale.

Agree, a stunning achievement.

Seem to remember a lot of people saying not too long ago that another record will be around for a long time, only for that to be re- broken a short time ago.

But, surely Peyron and his team have had the advantage of, and used technology and information that was not around when ENZA did it back in '94 so is that fair?????? I wonder if the critics will bring that up in the way they brought up the other recent record achievement.
