Opportunity for IPC?

My favourite French magazine "Loisirs Nautiques" has just gone into receivership in France.

It's a bit like a cross of YM and PBO but does great articles on innovative cruising designs and travel articles. It recently introduced a feature section on catamarans.

It would really be a pity if it went under.

The banks could float them a loan, but it might just be money down the drain.

To be honest, I can't see this fitting in strategically with IPC's existing Yachting stable, which are all English-language publications, aimed mainly at the UK market.

Reading between the lines from a Google, IPC's owners (AOL Time Warner) are not wild about running businesses in France, as they appear to be "working with partners" in France (i.e. flogging off their businesses there to French Companies). As someone who once had to battle French bureaucracy in order to establish a small office for another foreign publisher in Paris, I can't say I blame them
