Was going to do a post of the good and the bad of SIBS for us but seeing as I haven't got any pictures figured it would be a bit boring for you all, plus most things have been said already!!

The one boat that I haven't seen any comments about though is the Fjord 40 open, what did people think?? I actually quite like it!! there will be a cruiser version at LIBS and apparently there are plans for a 36 version maybe next year!

The marketing man showing the boat told me that Fjord see it as being of interest to people who have a marina-location property in the Med, who would normally use it as a big 'day' boat to take out loads of friends, i.e. the owners don't bother to sleep onboard often as they already have a house at the marina (Actually I know people who have Squaddy 55s/58s and use them for exactly this purpose, albeit at a somewhat higher purchase price!).

I liked it, but i didn't go on, thought the style look smart and modern, that i took this pic of it!

Also I think you should post your good and bad points of the show, it doesn't matter if you don't have pics.
I'd like to read about it.

Cheers

Al.

Thanks for the pic Al, and a nice one at that!

It was odd, casue I came accros the Fjord a few days before the show, when I showed SWMBO she wasn't exactly blown away by the looks, however on looking at it and wondering round it we both agreed it seemed very nice! Although as others have mentioned we'd only be interested in the cruiser version and probably the smaller 36.

If I get a chance I'll write up some comments tonight /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, I think that looks great. Totyally impractical for the UK market of course, but I could be persuaded to have one of these:

I woudl prefer the white hull, but I do like the angular styling. Then, I also like the new BMW 5 series, so perhaps that says something about me...

Out of interest, how do boats with this style of bow (i.e Fjord, Wally, Mochi craft etc) perform in comparison to traditional style bows. Don't think they look as pretty but I should imagine that they would fare well in a head sea.

Where did you find that?? I don't know now your a dealer your obviousluy part of some underground network /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Think its a marmite boat! Either love it or Hate it!!

Oh and why do you say its impractical?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Don't suppose there are any W34 HT drawings yet? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Marmite boat--Yes!! That sums quite a few of the boats at the show this year for me. I like marmite but i`m afraid the SC35 made me reach. All I wanted to do was throw rotten eggs and decaying vegetables at that one on the roundabout /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The Fjord is maginally better although not much. I know I`m old fashioned but SS still make the best looking boats imho with Absolute coming in a very close second (had a look at the 41--loved it) Maybe i`ll get used to the modern looks when they get more functional and less "concepty"

It is impractical cos it is open and our weather is utter sh!te.
The cruiser version however is very practicle - nice warm HT with good vis and nice lines.

Sorry, no drawings of the 34 HT as yet. Might have some of the new interior soon, but I only really do new stuff on other peoples boats /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif - I need someone else to do mine /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think the Fjord is in a different league to the SC35. The Fjord looks well balanced and modern but well proportioned. The SC35 just looks like it took one to many steriods with the last BigMac. SC38 is much better looking in comparison, and the internal finish was better, though the vastness of the SC35's interior may give that boat issues.

Nothing like being in competition with yourselves though, and Sealine apparantly sold 11 SC35's at the show, so can't all be bad.

Jez,

Nod nod, wink wink but I believe they targeted 15 sales, which is less than the 21 S34's they did last year. Still I would be happy with 11 sales of a new and untested boat which is radically different from it's predecessors! Especially at a tad over £220k!

Slab sided car ferries come to mind!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Cheers

Kipper,

I think we will all grow to accept it and that this may be the beginning of the end for swoopy boats! Interesting that it is Sealine and Fjord who first copied the Wally styling and not the Italian Mob?
