In my Volvo instruction book for the KAD43 (which also covers 31,32,41 Series) while explaning flushing the system it says " Open the Seawater cock (reverse gear)" Does this imply that there is some sort of link between reverse gear and a seawater cock??

'Reverse gear' is the common (and Volvo) term for conventional gearbox. In this configuration the water inlet will consist of a skin fitting, sea cock and strainer.

If you have outdrives containing the water inlet and pump there is no sea cock.
