Hi all,
While crossing different sectors or VTSes you may have found yourself in the situation that it's unclear which channel you're suppose to be listening to.
The information isn't always clear on the map and looking up information for other countries can be challenging as well.
To allow me to display the nearby VHF channels in my cockpit I started two projects:
1. Collect VHF info in a way that allows for collaboration online: VHF info - Maritime VHF channel information projected on a map. VTSes, locks, bridges and some marinas instantly visible.
2. A plugin for SignalK to show data on a cheap display, or even a mobile phone/tablet
For VHFinfo.org I've put quite some time and energy into making adding new information easy for anyone.
As you can see there is quite some info on Belgium, Holland and Germany in there already.
For the UK not much is in there yet. And as they say: 'A lot of hands make light work'.
If you'd like to contribute, behind the '?' is some explanation how to add information.
Here's a preview on 2. showing which VTS and LOCK VHF channel is in front of the boat and the distance to it.
The LISTEN and REPORT are there to understand if passive listening is enough, or that reporting in is required.
Cheers,
Hans
