simple question, reading about using their system, they refer to a ·grabber symbol· I ask what is this ?

I imagine that they are talking about the symbol on the right hand edge of the toolbar (default position for this is along the top left of the screen). It looks like 2 vertical rows of raised dots and you can move the toolbar around by clicking on it and dragging the toolbar to a new position on the screen. Right clicking on the grabber symbol will also toggle the toolbar between vertical and horizontal alignment.

I think it refers to the bit on the right hand edge of the toolbar that you "grab" in order to move it around the screen. See here http://opencpn.org/ocpn/toolbar_buttons
