We've just got back after a fabulous weekend sailing to Oostende and back. We took some friends who have only been sailing once before and they now think that you plan to go somewhere, take the planned time getting there, have nice weather, meet nice people and eat well at the destination, and then return in slightly less than the planned time. We told them that it was always like this.

It was good to meet so many forumites, but rather strange to discover that they have real names.

Thanks folks for such a great weekend!

By the way, Robert is charming and not at all what I was led to expect.

What were you led to expect?

That He is in fact God /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

now who may have mentioned that /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, a great weekend.

Lots of firsts for me.

First time I've sailed to a foreign destination.
First time I've entered an unknown port in the dark.
First time I've been involved in a Dutch bank holiday lock grand prix start!
First time I've joined the East Coast bad sailors by diverting to a different destination.
First time I've surfed at 7.5 knots with 2 reefs and a tiny amount of Genoa.
First time I've changed foresails whilst underway (Genoa caught on the spreader and tore a big lump out of the leach /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif)

I'll remember the pier party for a long time and so nice to meet everyone again.

But next year can we have some wind that doesn't change direction to be on the nose where ever I want to go?
and currents that aren't adverse for 10 hours of the tide and when they are with me are against the wind?

Absolutely, it was great to meet everybody. What a bloody good weekend, although it was dampened slightly by Wolverstone charging me a tenner for a workboat lift out to my mooring buoy with all my kit!

I'm not sure I'm going to be drinking duval again in a hurry. God that stuff is strong, but not as strong as sailorman's moonshine. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Only a tenner Nathan - I was going to charge more than that. Glad you made it.

What a rubbish morning today - lashing rain and 20 knots + on the nose down the Wallet.

Ho hum. A top weekend with a top bunch of people. Thanks all.
