I'm more interested in the cat in the background Its a modified Woods that used to be called Tardis. Went like a rocket when I sailed on her.
Where is she now?.
All mods were done with the sanction of Richard Woods who actually drew the mods for the owner.
The were ,as far as I can remember, were slightly wider and longer than the original. Ant the volume of the hulls were increased by changing the sheer line. And of course the plumb stems, the only Woods boat that I have ever seen with them.
As I say fast for a cruiser , and looked after us once in some very bad weather
Hope that helps /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I always thought she looked beamy, the pictures I saw of Richard on the helm of eclipse always confused me as his boat never looked as broad as this one.
I have never been able to make my mind up if I like the look of these, some days when returning I look over longing, others I can't stand it. She is definitely not an AWB!
her beam must shrink her then, I would never have said she was as big as 40ft, not disagreeing here, more shocked. She is a deceptively big boat though, noticeable when you see her from behind and four or five people disappear in the cockpit!
I noticed a Snowgoose Elite that had an observation bubble just foward of the companionway door, and this provided a larger door than older Elites. Do you know when this mod was introduced?
Com'on guys s**t happens.
Although I did notice from the piccy that it looks like a Welsh Boat and that the towing post is set in the wrong place - to be expected I suppose!
You're right of course, they are a great bunch of lads and inference otherwise was tongue in cheek, I look forward to finding the boatman involved so I can tootle over to him with a harbour chart and wave it in his face.
I have never seen them once mistreat a boat, they always take great care of us when we are using the cranes etc. In fact, unlike many yards we are treated as a customer rather than them doing us a favour. I always make a point to thank them as I always feel happy enough to want to thank them for treating Top Cat in such a careful manner.
They still deserve a good ribbing for trying to cross the groin in the launch though!
The word I of course was going for was groyne, any infererence that the fine men of Pwllheli marina would want to cross a groin and thus confuse their sexuality was an honest spelling error.
Though, if they should be that way inclined and prefer going for the groin to going for the deep channel then that's ok too.
