OOPs sorry didn\'t mean to buy that

Have any of you gone out with the intention of buying something in particular and returned without it - having purchased something totally different?
e.g
1) A friends husband went out to buy stone for making a dry stone wall and came back with a rooster and 7 hens. The wall was delayed whilst the coop was being built.
2) Another friends hubby went out to get some fresh farm eggs and returned with a dog.

Jane,

Are you kidding? I'm sure you're thinking about other things, but I often pop out for a sandwich at lunchtime and come back with a new pair of shoes/jeans/bag/etc. But then work just off Oxford Street in London and it's kinda hard not to, sometimes ;-)

Actually - I bought my yacht on something of an impulse... it was "maybe I'll just take a look in this broker, see what they've got on their books". A couple of months later I owned the second boat I'd looked at that day...

We did that too - the Boat thing, not the Jeans thing.

One of our better decisions, although there were times....

Regards, Jeff.

Please tell me . .

. . . what good is a Massey Ferguson tractor on a boat??

Anyway, which one did you buy? 35? 35x? (my Dad drove one of those), or something more modern?

It was an MF35 Deluxe - which means it had a padded seat! Bugger to start despite an expensive rebuild but very useful for trips to the pub and supermarket.

Went out one lunchtime for a cleat for my 21ft Corribee (in Laindon near Basildon of all places) and came back having signed up for an Evolution 25 they had in the yard....... and they delivered it to launch in 2 days more, in time for the weekend.

I assume you are referring to Boating Scene? I bought my Invicta from them back in 1987. On a trailer tucked out of the way in the road behind their yard. An interesting chandler and outlet for their own range of boats. I found many a useful item tucked away somewhere.
