Managed to dunk my Honda bf2 today,(and go for a swim in the process!!) got it
home, dumped what little fuel that was left, sprayed wd40 in the pot turned it over a
few times, changed the spark plug, new fuel. Checked the oil level, topped it up,what
else should I do?.
After these tasks still cant get her to go,the spark seems a bit weak but,not sure
what else I can do, any advice welcome before I take it to an engineer.
I know the best advice is not to get it wet in the first place, but you know what us
cornishmen are like!

the fuel line will almost certainly have had salt in, so yerl have to turn over enough times to pull any salty fuel through, maybe wash thru with petrol. The lecky parts will risk bustifying with salt, tho dousing in wd 40 shd sort it. An oil change would be in order, tho shdn't stop it getting going.

I wd like to see the spark plug get a bit soaking with fuel, then a new plug. With a weak spark, dry thru the HT side, and feel the lead(s) as you pull - there should be no earthing ouch. Chances are that at least some water has got thru into the cyliners and isn't allowing combustion. Spraying summink like redex into the spark plg hole should get it started

Getting all the salt off it is important 'cos salt crystals attract water (hygroscopic) so even when its dry, it aint. Wash it down thoroughly with clean water and stand it in your shed / garage, while you pop down to Halfords and buy a can of GT85 (nothing else will do). This stuff is like WD40 but it will start any engine in any condition. Spray the engine with it to dispel moisture, then just a small squirt into the carb, then crank it over. It should go. When running, leave it running for a while to warm up thoroughly.

Did the same myself last year, same result, one assumes you have stripped the carb as we found water had gone straight in there and was lying in the float bowl, stopping any fuel getting through. Water out, ran a treat. Paul
