As antidote/change to all the happy
debate following story from friend.

Moored up in in Mahon last week. Manages to squeeze boat into narrow space. soon another Boat arrives, to go into space 2 'doors up' as it were. A shiny new 48 fairline. Bloke has wind on beam and a targa, but no bigger, size gap in which to put it.
After about 5 mins has his boat dangerously close to my mate's (chartered) anchor. Mate dashes forward to offer fending and assisitance. Guy says he is flummoxed and my mate hops aboard takes over and parks boat.

Transpires boat about 3 months new. bloke always fancied a motorboat and having a go round the med so buys 48ft targa brandee spankee new. First trip manages to reverse it into a pontoon hard and does approx 2K worth of damage to his dinghy garage and stern. other trip scared himself.
now 3rd trip and he's not sure about boaty lark having almost just scratched boat.

'Did it have a bow thruster' says i cos sounds like hellish situation to get out of.
'oh yes ' chirrups mate 'but he didn't have it switched on.'

i have not asked how much kit he had on board yet. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ive never been to Mahon with my boat, and in any case you know where I was last weekend.

But Max, your details are wrong. They don't make a Targa 48 anymore (more is the pity) have not done so since mid 2001. It could have been a Targa 43 or a Targa 52. Maybe not important to you but to us Targa owners it means a great deal. It also undermines the authenticity of your story. Are you sure its not an urban myth?

Should I get out more?
